Sports Flooring Case Study

Client Goals – outbound shipments must arrive on a specific date because installers will be on site the next day to begin installation. All flooring components must be shipped accurately.

Touchpoint Solution – Floor loaded ocean containers containing rolls of flooring material are delivered to Touchpoint’s DC. Rolls are unloaded, counted and receipt is confirmed to client. Other flooring components are delivered to Touchpoint palletized by the truckload from domestic suppliers.
While product is in storage client inquires on inventory status over the Internet. Inventory is controlled by lot number since color variations in material can occur between production lot runs. The entire inventory is cycle counted every 90 days. Outbound order requests are received electronically and specify a delivery date. Orders are picked, packed and made ready for shipment in delivery date sequence. Carriers are selected by Touchpoint based on transit time, reliability and cost. Each shipment is tracked by a dedicated customer service member to be sure shipment arrives on time. On client request Touchpoint will pull rolls of flooring from stock, cut material into squares as directed and ship samples. Overflow storage is provided for other divisions of client company.

Results – Material is delivered on time to job sites so installers can begin work as scheduled. Shipment accuracy is high eliminating lost labor due to missing flooring components.
